For almost TWO years, we’ve known that our campground review was never just about land use — it was POLITICAL INTERFERENCE dressed up as PROCESS.

Now we have confirmation straight from the Chairman of the Board of Supervisors here in Stafford, Virginia. Deuntay Diggs - Stafford County Supervisor George Washington Districtat his 9/25/24 Town Hall, openly admitted:

“I think there was a conversation where a couple of… people that are in political positions stepped in and said it should only be, I forget what type of tent, a BASIC TENT.”

​

He went on to solidify that:

​

“What we think it should be and what the ordinance said it is, is two different things.”

​

Now we know where the TENTS ONLY illegal demand came from — none other than out of the mouths of POLITICIANS.

​

That’s not just casual talk — that is an on-the-record acknowledgment that POLITICAL ACTORS directly INFLUENCED the plain language and Stafford County’s zoning ordinance was overrode.

​

Legal reality: Ordinances carry the FULL FORCE of law. Elected officials and political appointees CANNOT arbitrarily substitute their own “PREFERENCES ” for what the law actually says. Doing so crosses into the territory of ULTRA VIRES actions (acting beyond legal authority) and opens the door to questions of abuse of discretion, political favoritism, and procedural impropriety. This could change EVERYTHING!

This isn’t about a billion-dollar mega data center. This is about a measly 75-acre nature-preserving CAMPGROUND that has been dragged into POLITICAL WAR at the expense of our FAMILIES EQUAL RIGHTS.

Now we understand why our FOIA requests are uncovering communications with political people and people of importance. This post may need a Part TWO!.
